Counseling Services:
Depression and Anxiety are often symptoms rather than disorders themselves.
Generally anxiety is the result of fear. Fear of death, fear of rejection or abandonment, fear of being embarrassed or laughed at, fear of being wrong, fear of being unlovable, fear of fear.
Generally depression is a deep sadness, a feeling of grief and loss. The loss may be the loss of a loved one, the loss of dreams, the loss of hope, the loss of self.
These symptoms show up when we are cut off from parts of ourselves, when we are not honoring and expressing who we are, how we really feel or what we really want.
With hope and courage we can live fulfilling lives free from debilitating feelings of depression and anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Soul.
Traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of the most effective therapies for depression and anxiety. CBT explores the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Changes in one will naturally cause changes in the others, thereby reducing the debilitating symptoms.
I believe the deeper healing comes from exploring and honoring the deeper self, the soul. This is where hope lives. By going deeper into the feelings of the depression or anxiety, we can discover the puprose of the feelings, the messages they are trying to alert us to. They are often telling us something is askew in our lives. We can stop fearing them and trying to annialiate them, but rather incorporate and integrate them into our whole selves, our whole lives.
